Vigour is Physical strength and good health. 1 Tim. 4:8 “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” Good to note that physical exercise ‘vigour’ give you favour of self-acquired benefits; energy, great fitness and physical strength to work towards the divine favour that is presented to you by God. For this, you need to be able to convert your vigour to divine vigour, and this can only be achieved by understanding the word of God. “It is written” and “thus says the Lord.” Deut. 34:7 “Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak, nor his strength gone.” Hmm God’s favour!
Divine Vigour, however, requires us to be knowledgeable, rooted and grounded in God’s words, to be able to stand firm against the temptations and craftiness of the enemy. We must remember that Jesus used “It is written to defeat satan in the wilderness. Jesus Christ was weak, but ‘The word of God, it is written!’ Gave Him strength. All took place in Matthew chap. 4. Anyone who follow the crowd, or their own minds will walk in their own ways and will eventually miss their way, will derail from God’s purpose for their lives. The main way to receive God’s vigour is through prayers and the word, not just listening but believing, trusting and practicing the word of God. Jesus was very weak when the devil came to tempt Him in the wilderness, but the moment our Lord Jesus started quoting the scriptures, He became empowered, stronger and composed. He was able to receive favour of God and so, defeated satan.
Some Christians tend to claim they believe and trust God, and only God; but they do not pray, they do not read their bible, they do not go to church as the Lord commanded us to gather to worship Him, Heb.10:25. May I remind this class of Christians that this will not work! God is not a magician; He is a God of order. There were leaders in the bible who led the people of God during difficult and beautiful times. Listen to your church leaders to guide you in things of life. Therefore, the bible states in 2 Chronicles 20:20 “Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” Eph. 4:11-12 “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” And in 1 Tim. 3:8-13 “In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.”
What I’m communicating here is; you’ll receive divine vigour for divine favour, by obedient to your church leaders, listening to God’s word in form of sermons, teachings, reading, and studying your bible, praying and fasting. Because all these, will surely help you to know who you are, and in that way follow your God given destiny.
